It has a consistency like an emulsion or a light lotion, but it feels very moisturizing as you apply it to your skin. It’s not thick like a cream, but it’s not runny either.

It’s also a skin barrier repairing treatment. Liquid Gold is marketed as a moisturizer, to be used as a last step or close to last step, sealing in other hydrating layers. I’m not personally against parabens (see this Beauty Brains post for my reasoning), but I can see why some people are, so do be aware of that. Please be aware that this is not a paraben-free product. Water (Aq ua), Propylene Glycol, Ethoxydiglycol, Niacinamide, Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate, Rosa Mosqueta (Rose) Hip Oil, Hippophae Rhamnoides (Sea Buckthorn) Seed Oil, Hippophae Rhamnoides (Sea Buckthorn) Fruit Oil, Panthenol, Dimethicone, Glycerin, Squalane (olive-derived), Cetyl Alcohol, Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Seed Oil, Tocopherol, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Ceramide NP, Ceramide AP, Ceramide EOP, Phytosphingosine, Cholesterol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate, Carbomer, Xanthan Gum, Diazolidinyl Urea, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Disodium EDTA. I was eager to see if I could duplicate the results. The few reviews I’ve seen so far have hailed it as an amazing product that healed over-exfoliated and irritated skin almost overnight. The product aims to replenish the fatty content of your skin to heal dehydration and strengthen your skin’s natural defenses. Sea buckthorn oil is kind of the facial oil du jour these days (it’s the key ingredient in Fresh’s Seaberry Facial Oil, for instance, another of my favorites) - it contains omega-3, 6, 7, and 9, as well as other antioxidants. The amazing yellow gold color comes from two kinds of sea buckthorn oil, which contains fatty acids and antioxidants. It also includes other star ingredients like niacinamide for anti-aging and for fading dark spots, and hyaluronic acid to bind moisture to your skin. It contains effective concentrations of ceramides, cholesterol, and fatty acids to support your skin’s natural moisture barrier. Stratia’s Liquid Gold sounded like just the thing to battle my dehydration. I also made the mistake of using an alcohol-laden sunscreen this summer which really sucked the moisture from my skin. My skin gets dehydrated easily, over-exfoliated quickly, and its dehydration is exacerbated by the dry Southern California weather. After years of blasting my skin with harsh cleansers and drying skincare products, I’ve finally realized over the past couple of years that I have a rather sensitive moisture barrier. My constant struggle is my battle with dehydrated skin.
This is unfortunately quite hard to come by in beauty products! The best thing is, all her products are science-based with proven active ingredients in effective concentrations. Alli is an avid skincare enthusiast, and she built her products to target common skin concerns such as dehydration, fine lines and aging, and hyperpigmentation.
